Ahead of her entry into the show, Payal was asked by a reporter on why she is participating in an ALT Balaji show, given her past criticism of the platform. Responding to it, Payal said that personal opinions may be different from professional equations. She also gave the example of Kangana having differences with producer Ekta Kapoor and yet headlining her show

This comparison did not sit well with the host who said, "Do not piggy back on me. Talk about your own experiences, do not use my past experiences. Do not take my name."  Responding to it Payal said that she took her example only because she was sitting in front of her.

“So, you would still talk of someone else's experiences. You are still not saying that you would talk about your own experiences. You just proved my allegations right," Kangana said.

Responding to Kangana's remark, Payal said, "Why then do you use others' names? I can also say that you piggyback on Alia Bhatt's name and (are using) Gangubai Kathiwadi for the sake of grabbing attention." Kangana said, "Do not talk about me, I create my own controversies, that is my opinion about them."

A few days back, Kangana had criticized the casting of Gangubai Kathiawadi and called Alia a “bimbo”. She also said that Rs. 200 crore will be burnt to ashes at the box office. However, after the release of the film and people's positive reaction to the film, Kangana, too, praised the makers. "Happy to hear theatres are being revived in South film industry with record-breaking collections. I hear some baby steps are being taken in Hindi belt also. With recent female-centric film which has a big hero and a superstar director. They may be baby steps but they are not insignificant. They will be crucial for theatres that are on ventilators here. Great," she wrote.
