Manoj Bajpayee heaps praise on Gulmohar co-star Sharmila Tagore; calls his experience with her “quite enlightening”

The last time we saw Manoj Bajpayee on the big screen was 2020’s release Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari, co-starring Diljit Dosanjh and Fatima Sana Shaikh. After that, he continued entertaining the audience with his OTT projects. While the audience has to wait for more to enjoy his act on the silver screen, Bajpayee is gearing up for his upcoming OTT film, Gulmohar, which will stream on Disney+ Hotstar. Interestingly, while speaking about the film, Manoj opened up on his equation with co-star Sharmila Tagore, who plays the character of his mother in the film. It all happened during his conversation with News18. When asked to shed some light on his experience of working with her. The National Award winner asserted, “Whatever I say about Sharmila ji will be less. She’s one of the most graceful and independent women I know. The manner with which she carries herself before the camera and the manner with which she shows interest in every cast and crew member and the entire process [of filmmaking] is quite enlightening for me.” The Sonchiriya actor further added, “I feel very lucky that she loves me. She expressed some good words about me after we had wrapped up the shoot. It was a privilege to be in the company of Sharmila Tagore.” Talking about his forthcoming film, Manoj explained, “Gulmohar is a family film with a difference and it’s unlike anything we’ve watched earlier. We’re hopeful that each and every one watching it will enjoy it. It has been appreciated and praised by everyone who has watched it so far. I’m excited to see people’s reactions after they watch it once it releases. Rahul V Chittella, who has earlier worked with Mira Nair (filmmaker), and I are very confident and proud of the film. Gulmohar not just talks about family values but also the inner conflicts within a family.” Gulmohar is slated to start streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from March 3 onwards. Also Read: Meet the Batras!
