Mika Singh opens up about breaking up with Akanksha Puri; says, “We mutually decided to be friends”

In an Indianized version of ‘Bachelor’, which is generally referred to as ‘Swayamvar’, Mika Singh was seen as the groom, who was in search of a bride. When the singer-musician finalized model-turned-actress Akanksha Puri as his companion, many slammed the reality show calling it ‘fake’ and ‘scripted’. Addressing the same as well as opening up about his current status of his relationship with Akanksha, Mika revealed that they mutually parted ways and have chosen to remain friends.

In an interview with Etimes TV, Mika Singh maintained that although while choosing her as a companion, he did believe that they shared a great bond, he felt later that they were not meant for each other. He said, "I liked the idea of the swayamvar and hence took up the show. However, after choosing Akanksha as my companion, I realised that we were not meant to be with each other. I am a singer, musician and she is an actress. I keep travelling across the world for my concerts, while she is stationed at one place because of her projects. I figured that if she was also a singer, we could have collaborated and travelled together, but since she is an actor and her work is different from mine, we mutually decided to be friends."

In the same interaction, Mika also maintained that Mika Di Voti was not a sham, neither was it scripted, but he and Akanksha had different goals in life, which made them choose separate paths.

For the unversed, Akanksha Puri recently opened up about her separation with the musician-singer when she appeared on Bigg Boss OTT Season 2 wherein she started garnering attention for her intense chemistry with Dubai-based contestant Jad Hadid. On the other hand, Mika Singh is busy with his music projects.
