Shah Rukh Khan sets another record; plays a PATRIOTIC character, who can do anything for India, in all films this year - Pathaan, Jawan and Dunki

The weekend gone by was a special one for moviegoers after the poster of Dunki was dropped on social media. The teaser poster was not shared by the official handles of Shah Rukh Khan, Red Chillies Entertainment or Rajkumar Hirani. However, it wasn’t fake either and was put out by international distributors. In no time, it went viral and enhanced the buzz for the film, though it doesn’t show Shah Rukh’s face. But the feel of the poster and also the tagline ‘A Soldier’s Journey To Keep A Promise’ did the trick.

Dunki is the third release of Shah Rukh Khan in 2023 and it’s interesting to see that he’s playing a soldier or a patriotic character who can do anything for India in all three movies of the year. 2023 began with a bang with the monstrous blockbuster, Pathaan. It featured the superstar as a spy working for RAW. The actor was loved for the manner in which he played the cool character with ease and also for his quest to do anything for his motherland.

This was followed by Jawan. It broke Pathaan’s record and emerged as an all-time blockbuster. In Jawan, audiences saw Shah Rukh Khan in a double role. The father, Vikram Rathore, was a disciplined soldier of the Indian army, who had to pay a heavy price when he raised his voice against wrongdoing. His son, Azad, is a jailer and also a vigilante. Both the characters were patriotic in their own way and dedicated their lives to their country. The response to their scenes in cinemas was unprecedented.

And now, Dunki also sees Shah Rukh Khan as a jawan from the Indian army. A source said, “Shah Rukh plays an Indian army soldier. He’s patriotic and his character would be loved especially to what lengths he goes to.” The source also added, “Since it’s directed by Rajkumar Hirani, the way it is handled, you won’t draw parallels with Shah Rukh’s other two films, just like how the audience didn’t get a déjà vu of Pathaan while watching Jawan.”

Dunki releases in cinemas on December 21, 2023. The teaser is expected to be out next month.
