Ayushmann Khurrana expresses gratitude; says, “2023 gave me a lot of love and respect!”

Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana has had a phenomenal year professionally. From being recognised again as one of the ‘Most Influential People in the World’ by the prestigious TIME Magazine as he won the TIME Impact Award in 2023, to him delivering a Rs. 100 crores theatrical hit in Dream Girl 2, to him being appointed UNICEF’s National Ambassador for India, Ayushmann’s year has been punctuated by several massive milestones.

Reflecting on the same, Ayushmann said, “Professionally, 2023 was very special and it gave me a lot of love and respect. To be awarded by the prestigious TIME Magazine again for my cinematic choices was really humbling. I proudly represented India and Indian cinema globally at an event that the entire world watched. For me, that’s a massive personal milestone.”

He added, “As an Indian, I felt a lot of joy that our culture and our cinema is making its presence felt loudly and is being celebrated in every corner of the world. To be recognised by TIME twice in three years is an unbelievable feeling for me. It is stuff that dreams are made of. I’m happy they consider my work is contributing towards societal change, towards nation building.”

For Ayushmann, 2023 was perfect because he again delivered a theatrical superhit, Dream Girl 2. This was his fifth Rs. 100 crores hit. He said, “Nothing tastes sweeter than box office success and I’m glad that Dream Girl 2 gave me a theatrical hit that I will cherish forever. As actors, we live and die every Friday and I’m glad that I could rejoice the Friday of Dream Girl 2’s release.”

He added, “I have always felt happy to contribute towards my industry and I’m glad that Dream Girl 2 became a resounding success story. I have to thank my producer Ekta Kapoor, my director Raaj Shaandilyaa for giving me a franchise that has only given all of us a lot of love and appreciation.”

For years, Ayushmann has silently given back and done his bit to uphold the rights of children and those in need. In 2023, UNICEF recognised him as a youth icon who could usher in a positive change for India.

He said, “I have always tried to do my bit to give back and use my voice to support the rights of children in particular. It was amazing to be appointed as the UNICEF National Ambassador this year and grow within this organisation that is aiding and transforming the lives of millions worldwide.”
