Ranveer Singh starrer Gully Boy completes 5 years! Divine shares thoughts on the actor's performance; says, “He spoke to me, about the music, my life and observed everything”

Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh has managed to impress masses with his performances in several films. Among all, one of his most loved films is the 2019 release Gully Boy. The actor portrayed the character of an aspiring underdog rapper, Murad. Inspired by the lives of Indian street rappers like Divine and Naezy, the film presented Ranveer in a whole new character. As the film completes 5 years today, revisiting what rapper, Divine shared his experience of meeting Ranveer during the preparations of the film.

The actor personally visited the real locations and spent time with the rappers to understand the culture of the streets, he spent a lot of time with Indian rapper Divine as the story of his character Murad was mostly inspired by Divine's life. Divine on working with Ranveer, shared, “We spent time together, at gigs, in the studio. He spoke to me, about the music, my life and observed everything.” In another interview, Divine also said, “We were the first guys to spark the whole Hindi hip-hop scene, and there’s a rapper in every gully now, which is all I wanted. Our story will finally be on the big screen, and Ranveer Singh is the right guy to do it. I have hung out with him a couple of times, chilled out. He’s a great and talented guy, best choice for this film.”

On the other hand, Ranveer Singh gears up for his much-anticipated role in Don 3, where he steps into the shoes of legends like Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan. Additionally, along with wife Deepika, he will also feature in Singham Again.
