Sushmita Sen recalls laughter in operation theatre after heart attack; says, “I had a really fun doctor, so we were just looking at the angioplasty happening”

Bollywood actress Sushmita Sen recently shed light on her health struggles, revealing details about her battle with an autoimmune disease and a near-fatal heart attack during the shooting of Aarya Season 3. In a candid interview with Curly Tales, Sen shared insights into her health journey and the challenges she faced.

Opening up about her autoimmune condition, Sen explained how it impacted her daily life, particularly causing episodes of brain fog that affected her memory and mindfulness. She said, “I went through this entire phase of my life where I went through an autoimmune condition. One of the biggest problems with that is brain fog. I ask you, 'What is your name?' and then, two seconds later, I ask you again, 'What is your name?' I'm sorry. As a public figure, that was something that bothered me a lot because I was suddenly not in my power to be aware and mindful.”

Sen also highlighted the importance of health awareness, especially considering her family history of heart ailments. Just six months before her heart attack, she received a positive health report, which made the sudden cardiac event even more surprising.

She further added, “But if you ask me about my lifestyle, I celebrate life. I have always been a happy person, so that really helped through this crisis because I was laughing even on the OT table. We were joking, me and my doctor. I had a really fun doctor, so we were just looking at the angioplasty happening, and we really had a terrific time.”

For the unversed, Sushmita had earlier disclosed about her health struggles, including a heart attack and subsequent angioplasty due to a significantly blocked main artery. Battling Addison's Disease, she has been candid about her health journey, offering glimpses of her challenges and triumphs.

Despite health setbacks, Sushmita recently concluded the acclaimed web series, Aarya Antim Vaar. The culmination of the series, released on February 9 on Disney+Hotstar, showcased Sushmita's versatility as an actor. Co-directed by the filmmaker Ram Madhvani and co-produced by Amita Madhvani, Ram Madhvani Films, and Endemol Shine India, the series featured an ensemble cast, including Ila Arun, Sikandar Kher, Indraneil Sengupta, and others.
