Tahira Kashyap on managing household chores with Ayushmann Khurrana: "Ayushmann has to be home in the first place to...”

Tahira Kashyap, known for her wit and candor, recently discussed the dynamics of managing household chores with her husband, Bollywood star Ayushmann Khurrana, in an interview with TOI. She peeked into their domestic life, revealing how they navigate their responsibilities amidst their busy careers. Tahira humorously confessed, "Ayushmann has to be home in the first place to help with chores. For that, he needs to be at home also, honestly main bhi na gas on nahi kar paati hoon, so usko kya hi boloon (Even I can't switch on the gas, what do I say)."

Real-life reflections in Sharmajee Ki Beti

Tahira, who recently made her directorial debut with the film Sharmajee Ki Beti, shared how a scene in the movie mirrors her own life. In the film, Sakshi Tanwar's character asks her husband to help with household chores, reflecting a similar request Tahira might make to Ayushmann. This scene, she revealed, is drawn from her personal experiences, underscoring the everyday challenges and the practical understanding between her and Ayushmann.

Managing roles and responsibilities

Tahira elaborated on their approach to handling domestic roles, especially when Ayushmann's work keeps him away. She explained, "Whatever roles we have taken up, there is a mutual understanding. Like if we are traveling, and I am doing research on the place, then he has to figure out the logistics. So it's basically an unsaid way we have found for dealing with life and with kids." This mutual respect and support extend to their children as well, creating a balanced family dynamic.

Children's support and Tahira's directorial journey

Tahira shared a heartwarming anecdote about her children’s reaction to her film. "They came for the screening and were my biggest cheerleaders. They were shouting from behind, and I was like guys, stop it," she said. Her kids’ enthusiasm reflects their recognition of her hard work and passion over the past seven years. Tahira's journey to becoming a feature film director, marked by perseverance, is a testament to her dedication and the support of her family.

Building a support system

In the interview, Tahira also touched upon the robust support system they have cultivated over the years. Despite the demanding nature of their professions, they have managed to create a balance that allows them to pursue their dreams while maintaining a harmonious family life. Tahira’s candidness about their domestic arrangements and her humorous take on daily challenges highlight the importance of partnership and mutual support in managing both personal and professional lives.
