Nayanthara reveals desire for blend of Hindu and Christian traditions in wedding; says, “We kept it a Hindu wedding with an English touch”

Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan had a grand wedding in 2022 after dating for several years. Although originally planned to take place at the Tirupati temple, the venue was changed last minute due to logistical issues. The couple ultimately tied the knot at the Sheraton Grand Chennai Resort and Spa in Mahabalipuram, with all the arrangements completed in just ten days.

Shaadi Squad, the event planners behind celebrity weddings like Virat Kohli-Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif-Vicky Kaushal, organized Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan's wedding. In Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale, the planners revealed that despite the last-minute venue change, the couple was determined to keep the original wedding date.

The actress also expressed her desire for a Hindu wedding after converting from Christianity to Hinduism. She shared, “Because I am a born Christian, my mom always wanted to see me in that Christian attire – the wedding gown kind of a thing. But, since I have become a Hindu, and we have to do a Hindu wedding, I just thought it should be like a beautiful mix of both a Hindu and a Christian wedding. So we kept it a Hindu wedding with an English touch.”

Born Diana Kurien, Nayanthara adopted her stage name when she entered the film industry. Her wedding was a star-studded affair, attended by prominent figures from Indian cinema, including Rajinikanth, Mani Ratnam, Shah Rukh Khan, Atlee, Suriya, and Jyotika. The couple visited the Tirupati temple the day after their wedding to seek blessings. Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan are now parents to twin sons, Uyir and Ulag, born via surrogacy.

In other news, Nayanthara publicly called out Dhanush for suing her over the use of a BTS video from the Naanum Rowdy Dhaan sets in her upcoming documentary, Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairy Tale. In an open letter, she accused Dhanush of ignoring her request for a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to include the footage in the film and made serious allegations against him.
