Anil Kapoor congratulates Shekhar Kapur on Padma Bhushan: “Your dedication to cinema is truly an inspiration”

Shekhar Kapur, a celebrated filmmaker known for iconic works like Masoom, Mr. India, and Bandit Queen, has been honored with the prestigious Padma Bhushan award. Among those congratulating him was Bollywood veteran Anil Kapoor, who praised the director and referred to him as a “dear friend.”

Anil Kapoor shared a heartfelt message for Shekhar Kapur on Instagram Stories, congratulating him on receiving the Padma Bhushan. Along with a series of throwback photos that included the late actress Sridevi, Anil wrote, “Congratulations to my dear friend @shekharkapur on receiving the Padma Bhushan! Your brilliance and unwavering dedication to cinema is truly an inspiration. This honour is a testament to your incredible journey, and I couldn’t be happier Shekhar.”

Shekhar Kapur expressed his gratitude to the government for bestowing him with the Padma Bhushan, sharing on X, “What an honour! Am humbled that the Government of India has considered me to be deserving of a #Padmanbhushan. Hopefully this award will make me strive harder to serve the Industry that I am part of, and the beautiful Nation that I am so fortunate to belong to. Thank you also to our film audiences of India, for I am because you are.”

The announcement of the Padma Awards 2025 was made on the eve of Republic Day, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi revealing the names of the recipients. The highest civilian honors include seven Padma Vibhushan, 19 Padma Bhushan, and 113 Padma Shri awards.

As for Anil Kapoor, he will next be seen in Subedaar, where he plays the lead role of Subedaar Arjun Singh. Radhika Madan will portray his daughter in the film. Directed by Suresh Triveni, Subedaar is produced by Vikram Malhotra, Suresh Triveni, and Anil Kapoor.
