Twinkle Khanna slams blame game against wives amid rumours of Kareena Kapoor being “too intoxicated” to help Saif Ali Khan during attack: “When Virat Kohli gets out, then Anushka Sharma gets booed. This is a widespread issue”

Actress-turned-writer Twinkle Khanna addressed the ongoing rumors surrounding Kareena Kapoor’s role during the shocking attack on her husband, actor Saif Ali Khan. The incident, which occurred on January 16 during a robbery attempt at Saif’s Bandra home, sparked speculation about Kareena being “too intoxicated” to assist her husband. Twinkle took to Instagram on Sunday, slamming this pattern of blaming women, saying, “Biwis are clearly not considered number 1 except when it comes to taking the blame.”

In a heartfelt note, Twinkle shared an excerpt from her Times of India column, pointing out the deep-rooted bias against wives in both public and personal lives. She cited examples from pop culture and real life, including Yoko Ono being blamed for The Beatles’ breakup, Jill Biden facing criticism over Joe Biden’s political campaigns, and even Virat Kohli’s wife Anushka Sharma getting trolled after his poor performances. Twinkle wrote, “This is a widespread issue, not limited to couples in the public eye. If your husband gains weight, you’re blamed for neglecting his health. If he’s indifferent, you’re blamed for not handling him right.”

The writer’s witty tone struck a chord with readers as she humorously recounted a family anecdote where a relative joked that marriage was the reason behind baldness. She concluded her note with, “Behind every man, loser or leader, stands a woman who is about to be vilified at the drop of a hat. Agree? Disagree?”
