EXCLUSIVE: Jaideep Ahlawat talks about Saif Ali Khan’s stabbing incident: “He’s a STRONG man; handling it well”; also THUNDERS over An Action Hero’s BO debacle: “People watch so many films in cinemas but missed this one; it should re-release”

It’s the era of re-releases with films, which failed during their original run, managing to succeed big time in Round 2. Sanam Teri Kasam is the latest case in point. Bollywood Hungama exclusively spoke to Jaideep Ahlawat on this aspect and a lot more.

His 2022 film, An Action Hero, co-starring Ayushmann Khurrana, has not got a single negative review. When asked about it, he said, “That’s true lekin log theatre mein dekhne nahin gaye!”

We asked if An Action Hero should be re-released. Jaideep Ahlawat replied, “I feel ek baar re-release kar deni chahiye. Shayad kuch toh faayda hoga. So many people told me after watching the film on OTT, ‘We missed watching it in cinemas’. I used to get angry and used to wonder, ‘These people watch so many films in cinemas. But when such a beautiful film like An Action Hero was released, they gave it a miss’. I guess it happens with certain films. But your idea is a good one. An Action Hero deserves to re-release.”

Meanwhile, Jaideep Ahlwat is gearing up for Jewel Thief - The Heist Begins. Co-starring Saif Ali Khan, its teaser was unveiled by Netflix last week. On this film, he said, “It’s a fast-paced roller coaster ride. You’ll feel the pace of the story when you see it and it also consists of interesting sub-plots. There are also a lot of twists and turns as well. Even shooting for it was a fun experience. Saif sir is a fully energetic and witty person. It was great working with him. Bahut hi alag tarah ki energy leke aate hai.”

How was it interacting with Saif Ali Khan after he suffered a stabbing incident at his residence on January 16? Jaideep Ahlawat replied, “Physically, he looks fine. But mentally too, I am sure he’s handling it well as he’s a strong man, from the outside as well as inside. It’s very sad and shocking to hear something like that. But I am glad to see that he was handling it nicely.”

Jaideep Ahlawat, interestingly, has two heist films in his kitty, the other one being Hisaab, directed by Vipul Amrutlal Shah. Jaieep revealed, “It has a very different story. The genre is also different. The plot is very interesting and the way it unravels will make for an interesting experience for the viewers.”

Jaideep Ahlawat’s popularity went to another level when he played a cop in Paatal Lok. The same happened with Shefali Shah when she donned the police uniform in Delhi Crime. As a result, fans are excited to see Hathi Ram joining hands with ACP Vartika. Jaideep Ahlawat laughed at this connection and stated, “Yes, but this is a different world altogether.”
