Sanam Teri Kasam re-releases: John Abraham celebrates Harshvardhan Rane’s long-overdue recognition

Nine years after its initial release, the romantic drama Sanam Teri Kasam has found a new lease on life, earning praise and performing well at the box office. The film, which originally bombed upon its 2016 release, has been re-released and is now receiving the love it deserved. John Abraham took to social media to celebrate its success and applaud lead actor Harshvardhan Rane for finally getting his due.

In a heartfelt post, John shared the film’s poster and wrote, “Finally... @harshvardhanrane you have got your due!” The message resonated with fans, who have been praising Harshvardhan’s performance in the film. The re-release has not only brought the film back into the spotlight but also highlighted the enduring appeal of its emotional storyline and performances.

For the unversed, it was not Sanam Teri Kasam but another film produced under John Abraham's banner that was supposed to mark Harshvardhan Rane's Bollywood debut. The film Satra Ko Shaadi Hai, starring Sapna Pabbi and Harshvardhan Rane, was set to be co-produced by John Abraham and UTV-Disney. However, no updates or official announcements were made regarding the film being shelved, even when rumors surfaced about Disney shutting down Bollywood production.

Directed by Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru, Sanam Teri Kasam stars Harshvardhan Rane and Mawra Hocane in lead roles. The film tells the story of an unlikely romance between a rebellious young man and a shy, introverted girl. Despite its emotional depth and soulful music, the film failed to make an impact during its initial release. However, its re-release has struck a chord with audiences.

Having said that, it is worth mentioning here that a day before Sanam Teri Kasam arrived in cinemas, Harshvardhan Rane spoke exclusively with Bollywood Hungama about the film’s re-release. He asserted, “Many girls messaged me, ‘Release the film. We just want to cry’. I was stunned. This taught me that we just want to be touched. Either make us laugh or cry. But sadly, we are not able to do so. Also, it's difficult to make people laugh or cry. And if you manage to do so, then nothing like it.”

One of the greatest films of all time, Lagaan (2001), completed 23 years on June 15.
