EXCLUSIVE: Ahmed Khan LEFT SPEECHLESS as Salman Khan nails complex Turkish dance move for ‘Sikandar Naache’: “Seasoned dancers can’t do it, but he nailed it in ONE take!”

Ahmed Khan is on a roll at present. He was on a high recently when his surprise blockbuster Baaghi 2 (2016), starring Tiger Shroff, completed 7 years. He’s busy directing the much-awaited Welcome To The Jungle. He also took the time to choreograph the catchy track, ‘Sikandar Naache’ from Sikandar, starring Salman Khan. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, Ahmed Khan spoke about his experience of working on this song.

Ahmed Khan said, “I had stopped choreographing songs. It was Sajid Nadiadwala who told me, ‘Ahmed, you have to get back to choreographing. Let’s do one song’. Salman was also a part of it. I couldn’t refuse them; so, I immediately gave my nod. Moreover, there was a gap in the Welcome To The Jungle shoot. This song came my way exactly when I was free. Our last song together was ‘Jumme Ki Raat’ (Kick; 2014) 11 years ago.”

The highlight of ‘Sikandar Naache’ is a particular dance step by Salman Khan. The superstar, with the support of other dancers, bends down and does what seems to be a complicated dance. Ahmed Khan said, “Sajid Nadiadwala wanted dabke, a Turkish dance style. It’s very limited in its steps and the Turkish people usually perform the dance in private functions. We decided to get it on celluloid. Kuch naya karte hai.”

He continued, “That particular step is not easy. It is very, very, very tough. It is so tough that many seasoned dancers can’t do it. But Salman just did it in one take! I was shocked. He did and he sat down.”

Ahmed Khan added, “You just try it in your house. Bend back, put your hand on your sofa or chair and keep one leg straight. It is not easy. And he did it so effortlessly. We were like, ‘Ho gaya?’. He replied, ‘Haan, ho gaya’! It was the signature step of the song and it worked well for us. It made for a good collaboration after ‘Jumme Ki Raat’.”

With the Sikandar shoot done, Ahmed Khan is all set to resume working on the grand comic caper. He said, “Now, I am back to working on Welcome To The Jungle. From working on Sajid Nadiadwala, I am back to working with Firoz A. Nadiadwallah!” He also smiled and added, “Both Nadiadwala’s are like my brothers.”
