Amitabh Bachchan shares father Harivansh Rai Bachchan's poem as tribute to Indian soldiers following PM Modi's address to the nation

Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan honored Indian soldiers with a heartfelt poem, following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address on Operation Sindoor, expressing deep respect for the armed forces.

On May 12, Amitabh Bachchan shared a poem by his late father, Harivansh Rai Bachchan, on X (formerly Twitter), saluting the bravery of the Indian Army. He captioned it, “Jai Hind… Jai Hind Ki Sena,” shortly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s first address following Operation Sindoor.

In his post, Amitabh Bachchan wrote, “And the words of Poojya Babuji (respected father) resound…loud and clear…and in reverberation…from every element of the Country…from every corner,” before sharing the poem.

The poem excerpt read, “Oh! The angered and dedicated Jawans of the Country…clench your teeth…stand up and move forward…upward and beyond…without giving any voice…if you have to speak…may the sound be heard of your slaps registered on the face of the enemy! In peace there’s nothing so becomes a man. As modest stillness and humility: But when the blast of war blows in our ears, Then imitate the action of the tiger…” conveying a powerful call to courage and unwavering resolve in the face of adversity.

Amitabh concluded his post with a patriotic message, writing, “Bharat mata ki jai. Vande Mataram.”

In his first public remarks since India carried out precision strikes on nine terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir on May 7, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that Operation Sindoor has “carved out a new benchmark in India’s fight against terrorism” and “set up a new parameter and new normal.”

Referring to the 2016 surgical strikes and the 2019 Balakot air strikes, he added that Operation Sindoor reflects India’s consistent “policy against terrorism.” The strikes were in response to the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives.
