Kunal Kohli calls Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning “yawn fest”, suggests Tom Cruise to “make another one”: “Can’t end like this”

While Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning has opened to enthusiastic audience turnout in India, filmmaker Kunal Kohli is not impressed. Taking to social media, the Hum Tum director expressed his disappointment with what is expected to be the final chapter in Tom Cruise’s legendary franchise.

“They Did the Impossible”: Kohli Criticizes MI 8’s Execution In a sharply-worded review, Kohli labelled the film a “yawn fest” and said it failed to uphold the franchise’s standard of high-octane entertainment. “They did the impossible. Messed up a #MissionImpossible film. What a yawn fest. Sad end to one of the greatest franchises ever,” Kohli wrote.

He went on to add, “Will just forget they ever made this one and rewatch the rest of the great MI films. @tomcruise, now make another one. Can’t end like this.” Kohli’s remarks have sparked conversation online, especially given that The Final Reckoning is being viewed as the concluding act of the long-running Mission: Impossible saga.

In contrast, actor-filmmaker Farhan Akhtar was left thoroughly impressed. Sharing his review on Instagram Stories, Farhan praised Tom Cruise’s performance and the overall impact of the film.

Despite mixed reviews from members of the film fraternity, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning is holding strong at the Indian box office. The film also premiered on Day 2 of the 78th Cannes Film Festival, where it received a five-minute standing ovation, leaving Tom Cruise visibly emotional. Cruise was joined by director Christopher McQuarrie and co-stars Hayley Atwell, Simon Pegg, Angela Bassett, Pom Klementieff, and others.
