Richa Chadha drops powerful post honouring Bharat Ma, Dharti Ma and every form of motherhood

Richa Chadha, known for using her voice on social and political issues, took to Instagram this Mother’s Day to post a deeply personal and unconventional tribute. The actress, who recently had her first child with husband Ali Fazal, shared an evocative carousel of images that went beyond the typical celebration.

Richa’s post featured candid glimpses from her pregnancy journey — including shots with her beloved pets, Ali, and even her enjoying the greenery and celebrating Mother Earth itself, as she referenced "Bharat Ma" with a photo of people holding Indian National Flag. Another slide included her on the sets of her upcoming project ‘CineMa’, cleverly playing on the word 'Ma' to reflect the layered theme of motherhood.

In her caption, Richa offered a sharp and emotional reflection, “Everyday is Mother’s Day. I hope peace prevails because I assure you moms don’t just give birth so their children become cannon fodder- statistics. My mom refused to let me upload her photo.” Her choice to subtly invoke rising India-Pakistan tensions through a mother’s perspective received appreciation for its sensitivity and thoughtfulness. Fans and followers lauded the post for combining personal emotion with a broader message of peace.

Meanwhile, Ali Fazal remembered his late mother with a heartfelt post of his own, reflecting on the enduring absence of a parent on such days. His note struck a chord with many, as he shared a photo with his mother from his childhood days, expressing how her presence is missed even more during milestones and celebrations.

The couple, who legally married in 2020 but hosted a traditional ceremony in 2022, announced their pregnancy in 2024 and welcomed their daughter Zuneyra Ida Faza in July that year. As Richa and Ali recently embraced parenthood, their Mother’s Day tributes offered not just a celebration, but also a moment of introspection and hope for a better, more peaceful world for the next generation.
