EXCLUSIVE: Sudhanshu Pandey slams popular reality shows: “They are RIDICULOUS in nature”; reveals why The Traitors was the ONLY reality show he said yes to

The first three episodes of The Traitors dropped on June 12 and have been noticed for their unique concept and the association of big names in the form of players. One name that stood out was Sudhanshu Pandey. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, the dashing actor explained what made him break the ‘no-reality-shows’ rule for The Traitors.

To confirm, we asked him if The Traitors was indeed his first reality show. Sudhanshu Pandey said, “Yes, this is my very first reality show! I am a certain kind of person. I have spent so many years in the industry, done so much work and earned immense love and respect, at whatever level. I mean you may not be Shah Rukh Khan or not everybody becomes Shah Rukh Khan. Whatever you are, you take pride in that. If you have been able to survive and then when you have a family, you become a different person altogether. That’s how I am; I don’t know about others. I would have never compromised my self-respect or dignity at any cost. So, for me, being a part of a reality show was never in my scheme of things, especially the kind of reality shows that are made. The popular ones in particular are ridiculous in nature!”

Sudhanshu continued, “But when the offer for The Traitors came in from BBC, my first reply to them was that if it was anyway close to ‘that’ reality show, then I won’t be doing it. We had a virtual meeting with the BBC producers. They convinced me as they explained the format to me, how it’ll function, etc. That is when things moved forward.”

When prodded further on this process, Sudhanshu Pandey said, “The makers sent me videos of the original show; it’s an award-winning format. I realized that it looked cool as it was a mind game. Hence, it would be a good challenge to be a part of it. That is what appealed to me. I was then not worried about the nature of the show.”

Has he got offers from Bigg Boss and other reality shows? Sudhanshu replied, “Yes, all of them. And not once but many times!”

In the first three episodes of The Traitors, Sudhanshu is quite subtle and soft-spoken. Can we expect fireworks from him in the upcoming episodes? Sudhanshu laughed and said, “You’ll have to watch it to know whether or not there are going to be fireworks from my side. The audience will get to see the real me in this reality show and how I hold myself.”

Interestingly, what seems like a set of The Traitors in Rajasthan is actually a hotel. Sudhanshu revealed, “It’s a palace hotel and it’s a beautiful property.”

Finally, has there been any change in him with regard to reality shows after working on The Traitors? Will he be open to doing more such shows in the future? The actor answered, “I guess never say never. I used to always say that I won’t do a reality show but I have finally done it as the format was interesting. If there’s anything of this level or nature, then why not? I would love to take part.”
