A R Rahman drops selfie with Hans Zimmer as they join forces for Ramayana; fans call it the collaboration of the decade

The excitement around Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming Ramayana just reached a whole new level! Legendary Indian music composer A R Rahman has sparked fresh anticipation after sharing a selfie with Oscar-winning German composer Hans Zimmer, hinting at a once-in-a-lifetime musical collaboration for the much-awaited film.

Taking to social media, Rahman posted a picture with Zimmer and simply captioned it, “With @hanszimmer #ramayanamovie.” Though short, the post was enough to send fans into a frenzy as two of the world’s biggest music maestros seem to be working together to bring the epic saga to life.

For the unversed, Ramayana is expected to be one of the most ambitious Indian films ever made, with a massive budget and a grand vision to retell the legendary story of Lord Ram, Goddess Sita, and Ravana on the big screen. The star cast announcement video was unveiled earlier this week and has already generated major buzz across social media.

The official cast includes Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman, and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman. The film also features Rakul Preet Singh as Surpanakha, Ravana’s sister, and Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi, Ram’s stepmother, along with other prominent roles yet to be revealed.

The announcement video, praised for its intense visuals and powerful background score, has only added to the intrigue. With A R Rahman and Hans Zimmer now linked to the project, fans are calling this a “frame of the decade” and a “colossal celebration.” Social media exploded with comments like “Two Titans cooking up something colossal,” “Waiting for the blast now,” and “Excited max, Sir!” Celebrities including Ishaan Khatter and Lauren Gottlieb also dropped comments expressing their excitement over this international-level collaboration.

The idea of these two legendary composers working together has set the expectations sky-high. While the film is still in its early stages, fans are already calling it one of the most anticipated movies of the decade, not just for its scale and cast but now for what promises to be a historically memorable soundtrack.

For the unversed, Ramayana, produced by Namit Malhotra and superstar Yash, is expected to release in two parts – one in Diwali 2026 and the other a year later in Diwali 2027.
