EXCLUSIVE: "Aryan Khan breaks the mould as first-time director"; Anya Singh spills on-set secrets

Aryan Khan, son of Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan, is making waves, not just because of his illustrious lineage, but because of his unique approach as a first-time director in his show The Ba***ds of Bollywood. The young filmmaker is already garnering attention for creating a collaborative, respectful, and vibrant environment on set, which, according to cast member Anya Singh, significantly enhanced the filming experience.

“He’s open to that. Very open. If he just doesn’t see it in that manner, he’s not dismissive about it. He will explain to you why maybe this does not make sense,” Anya shared in an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama. Her words highlight Aryan’s willingness to listen to his actors and collaborate, rather than imposing rigid directions—a quality that has become a hallmark of his directorial style.

Interestingly, Aryan’s role as director wasn’t immediately obvious to everyone during the audition process. “The last round before that you were auditioning, you didn’t know… the last round, that’s when I found out that he is my director,” Anya revealed. This surprise discovery underscores Aryan’s low-key, approachable persona, making him more relatable to his team despite his celebrity background.

But perhaps the most remarkable aspect of Aryan’s directorial debut is the on-set atmosphere. Anya described it as “young” and “fun,” adding, “Nobody has ever raised their voice… It was young. It was fun. People were free to do what they wanted to… Very welcoming set.” Such an environment allowed actors to perform freely, experiment with their craft, and contribute ideas without fear of judgment.

Mutual respect was another key takeaway from the set, according to Anya. She explained, “If the same question was told to me in an authoritative manner… equal standing. Then you start feeling like—but I’m doing this for you only…” The statement illustrates how Aryan balances guidance with trust, giving actors a sense of ownership over their performances while maintaining a structured workflow.

Aryan Khan’s directorial debut is fast becoming a talking point in Bollywood circles. It is not only a testament to his vision and creativity but also reflects a new wave of filmmakers who prioritize collaboration, inclusivity, and fun on set. With his approachable style and dedication, Aryan is proving that the next generation of directors can make waves without leaning solely on legacy or fame.

As audiences and critics pour love on the show, one thing is clear: Aryan Khan is redefining what it means to be a first-time director in Bollywood, blending star power with genuine teamwork and a fresh perspective behind the camera.
