Tamannaah Bhatia talks about changing attitudes towards women in their 30s in the film industry: “I had a 10-year plan…”
Actor Tamannaah Bhatia recently spoke about the film industry’s growing openness towards portraying women in their 30s, noting that age and experience are now being appreciated more on screen.
In a conversation with Filmfare, Tamannaah reflected on her acting journey and revealed that she had a “10-year plan” when she began her career. When asked if she felt the industry had become more accepting of mature and layered roles for women in their thirties, she said, “Yes, definitely. There are more roles being written for women in this age group. Earlier, we didn’t see many women on screen beyond a certain age. When I started acting, I had a 10-year plan — I thought I’d work till my thirties and then get married and have children.”
She added, “But the good part was that when I reached my late twenties, I really came into my own, and by that time, the industry had started creating interesting, meaningful roles. I think this shift is happening globally. I’ve never understood why people fear ageing. Many talks about it as if it’s something negative, but ageing is actually a beautiful process. I don’t know why people are so scared of it.”
Upcoming Projects
Tamannaah will next appear alongside Shahid Kapoor in Vishal Bhardwaj’s upcoming action thriller O' Romeo, a gritty gangster drama expected to release in late 2025 or early 2026. The film also stars Triptii Dimri.
She is also set to feature opposite Sidharth Malhotra in Vvan — Force of the Forest, a mythological folk thriller produced by Balaji Motion Pictures and TVF. Filming is scheduled to begin in June 2025, with a release planned for May 2026.
In addition, Tamannaah is reportedly portraying the wife of former Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria in a biopic-style action film that will be part of Rohit Shetty’s Cop Universe. She is also rumoured to join Anees Bazmee’s comedy sequel No Entry 2, starring Varun Dhawan in the lead role.
