Abhishek Banerjee reacts as fans call him the ‘Nick Fury of Bollywood’ for his role in Maddock Horror Comedy Universe

Abhishek Banerjee, best known for his recurring role as Jana in the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe (MHCU), has become a fan favourite for his quirky and relatable presence across the studio’s supernatural blockbusters. Following his latest appearance in Thamma, social media erupted with fans dubbing him the ‘Nick Fury of Bollywood’, comparing his recurring role to the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s iconic character who weaves the franchise together.

Reacting to the playful yet flattering comparison, Abhishek shared, “It honestly feels great to see fans connect my character with something as legendary as Nick Fury. Every time I step into Jana’s shoes, I discover something new about him. The fact that audiences eagerly wait for his return and shower him with so much love is truly overwhelming. I hv been a fan of avengers and being compared to Nick Fury played by Samuel Jackson, who is also one my all time fav actor, is a huge compliment because he’s the glue that holds the Marvel universe like Jana holds the key to mhcu universe:) . I can’t my thank stars enough for landing up a role like Jana!”

The Maddock Horror Comedy Universe, produced by Dinesh Vijan, first kicked off with Stree (2018), starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao. The film became a sleeper hit, blending humor and horror seamlessly while introducing Jana as Rajkummar’s loyal yet terrified friend. Abhishek reprised his role in Bhediya (2022), which starred Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon, and later appeared in Munjya (2024), a crossover that further connected the universe.

With Stree 2 on the horizon, Abhishek’s Jana has now become a familiar and beloved constant in Maddock’s expanding supernatural world.
