Imran Khan asked to leave India The development comes after the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO), Mumbai, issued a notice directing Khan to leave India by October 28. The actor is a US citizen and holds an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card.

Khan had participated in a protest at Mumbai’s August Kranti Maidan on October 10. The demonstration was linked to the Cockroach Janta Party and involved demands for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. He was briefly detained during the protest.

The notice reportedly cites provisions of the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025, and alleges that Khan contravened rules applicable to foreign nationals in India.

The action followed a complaint by BJP leader Kirit Somaiya regarding Khan’s participation in the protest. Authorities have maintained that foreign nationals are not permitted to participate in political protests in India.

Khan is expected to challenge the FRRO notice before the Bombay High Court. His legal team has indicated that he will contest the order, with reports stating that the actor maintains that he did not violate the conditions applicable to him.
